High Plains Road

Summary of Project
The preliminary road corridor plan for the future High Plains Road was recently completed and adopted by the Laramie County Planning Commission and the MPO Policy Committee. This Plan amends the Cheyenne area’s Master Transportation Plan. As the need develops for this road to be built by private or public investment, the alignment will already be decided and construction can build upon the Plan.
Project Needs and Goals
- Development of the Swan Ranch Rail Park and other oil producing
industries in the SW region of Cheyenne metro area - Potential for growth and economic development which will demand
additional transportation networks in that area - A connection between High Plains Interchange on I 25 to US 85 to
provide greater access to businesses and residents in that area
- Development of a conceptual road design for High Plains and
- recommendation of a preferred alignment
- Accommodate the needs of the existing landowners and future
roadway users - Accommodate the safety of all road users

public involvement strategy
