Connect 2050 – Paving the Way Forward

Last updated in 2020, the Cheyenne region’s Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is ready for a refresh! At the Cheyenne MPO, we’re laying the groundwork for a transportation future that honors our region’s unique character while preparing for tomorrow’s growth. Connect 2050 lays long-term plans and priorities for all modes of travel, including car, bike, pedestrian, transit, and freight.

Connect 2050 is an update to Connect 2045, which can be accessed here.

Why does Connect 2050 Matter?

Your Vision, Your Future

Connect 2050 is our blueprint for the future. We’re crafting a regional transportation vision that reflects how we want our transportation system to evolve. With clearly defined goals and measurable objectives, we’ll be able to track our progress and make sure we’re keeping on track.

Building Momentum Together

Transportation planning is a community effort. Through public engagement and collaboration with key stakeholders, we’re ensuring that our recommendations have broad support. This process not only secures smart investments but also positions the Cheyenne MPO as a trusted resource for regional planning.

Smart Investments, Lasting Impact

We know that every dollar counts. That’s why we’re conducting a thorough analysis of key corridors to determine where our transportation investments will make the biggest difference. Our focus is on maximizing benefits for residents and preserving what makes Cheyenne special.

Securing the Future of Transportation

We’re committed to pursuing and retaining all transportation funding available to the region for long-range planning. The LRTP is required by the federal government to continue to receive federal funds. Connect 2050 will meet all federal requirements to ensure the Cheyenne region continues to receive its fair share of federal transportation dollars.

Connect 2050 Study Area

Connect 2050 covers the entire Cheyenne MPO planning area, which is over 385 square miles of Laramie County. The planning area was recently expanded and includes the entirety of the City of Cheyenne and portions of unincorporated Laramie County.

Connect 2050 Update Schedule

The LRTP process began in late 2024 and is expected to be complete in Diciembre 2025. There will be two major phases of public involvement in late Spring 2025 and late Fall 2025.
