Sun
Valley Greenway Extension Plan
The Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the Greenway
Technical Review Committee (GTRC), and the Cheyenne Parks and
Recreation
Department have selected a preferred route for Greenway path
construction
on the east side of Cheyenne. The path alignment would start
at North
College Drive at Dry Creek. There it would follow Dry Creek until
it
passes under Pershing Boulevard. The path would then turn west
along the
south side of Pershing Boulevard. The path would then turn south
through
the utility easement east of the Cheyenne Ranch development.
The path would
again turn west following the alley south of Cheyenne Ranch.
The path would
cross Cleveland Avenue in front of the fire station and follow
US 30 and
College Drive to a point in the southwest corner of the Sun Valley
neighborhood. There the path would go both east and west. The
western
alignment would go under College Drive, through existing tunnels
to the
Henderson ditch. The eastern route would follow the north and
east edge of
the WYDOT detention pond to a location at Taft Avenue.
Besides
the route described above, future planning needs to be conducted
for Greenway extensions along Dry Creek between Pershing and
the Union
Pacific railroad and along the Union Pacific railroad west to
the Norris
Viaduct. Monies for the path construction and future planning
will paced
on a November 2003 ballot for the Specific Purpose Tax.
