E. Pershing Boulevard Corridor - Road and Intersection Design Project
History:
The 1988 Pershing Blvd.Master Plan designed improvements for the entire corridor between I25 and Converse Ave. and divided the reconstruction of the corridor in several phases. This project will be planning the section of the corridor between Dunn Ave. and Converse Ave.
The 19 th Street , Converse Avenue , Pershing Boulevard Traffic Safety Study , completed in 2000 and the 19th /Pershing/Converse Conceptual Alternatives Plan Analysis completed in 2005 outlined the need for improvements to these intersections and will be incorporated into the Dunn Ave. to Converse Ave. planning process.
Funding Mechanism:
- Roadway-
- The Dunn Ave. to Converse Ave. E. Pershing Blvd. Corridor project will be built with FY ‘07 – ‘10 Local Optional One Percent Sales Tax dollars, ($2,117,000), resolution #4859.
- Pershing, Converse, 19 th Intersection-
- FY ‘03 – ‘06 ($215,000) Local Optional One Percent Sales Tax, resolution #4344, provided funding for the preliminary redesign of the Pershing Blvd. , Converse Ave. , and 19th St. intersections.
- Funding for the construction of the 19 th St. , Pershing Blvd. and Converse Ave. intersection is budgeted from the FHWA Surface Transportation Program – Urban (STP-U) monies in the amount of $2,500,000.
Schedule for Reconstruction:
- Planning work to be completed by the summer of ‘09
- Final design completed in 2010
- Construction to follow, beginning 2010 -2011
